Felix Fitch suggested me to try with a mermaid. I hope you like it.

Gustav Klimt

Marco Regina did a very nice character inspired by Gustav Klimt. With his permission I did my own version of it.
Marco, I hope you like it.

Quentin Blake

Spontaneity, simplicity and beauty in the Quentin Blake's illustrations are for me a source of delight and wonder. When I draw, I often think about his work and that helps me fighting the fear of doing a bad drawing.

Milt Kahl's eyebrows

I thought that I was drawing this kind of eyebrows on my characters because of Milt Khal's influence on my design. But some people here in Dreamworks have a different theory. First Nicolas Marlet, and now Patric Mate', showed me that I draw that kind of eyebrows because I HAVE those eyebrows. Have a look at this Patrick Mate' caricature of me and decide for yourself.

This page is from a comic book series called "Reporter Blues". The comic book was based on the TV animated series created by the Studio Pagot and the Studio Ghibli (Hayao Miyazaki's Studio).

Bill Peet

Lately I was looking at Bill Peet's unpublished sketches on his web site. Just amazing! His ability to blend his tremendous animal knowledge with tasteful design and entertaining storytelling is for me an incredible source of inspiration.

White Rhino

I played a bit with the idea of some kind of prehistoric rhino and this is what came up.
Aurélie, the little one in the middle needs your appealing touch.

Fish

While I was working on "Help I'm a Fish" I went to the aquarium and I did some sketches. Here is a selection of them. Later they became very helpful when I had to design all the secondary fish for my short "The Shark and The Piano".

Life Drawings

Let me start saying that I love doing life drawings. For me it is very, very relaxing. These two pages were done in Munich some years ago. Some poses are 30 seconds others one minute.
During that session I took the liberty to change the hair and a bit the face. You will probably notice that the model is always looking at her wrist. This was because she was looking at her watch tracking the time.

Just a Cat

Animation movies are full of really nice cats. One of my favorite design are the cats from Don Bluth's "Banjo the Woodpile Cat". I also love the ones that Nicolas Marlet and Carlos Grangel did for the animation version of the musical "Cats".

Dylan Dog

These are two pages from "Dylan Dog".
Dylan Dog is a popular comic book in Italy and I believe few numbers have been published here in USA as well.
Each book has almost 100 pages, is in blank and white and is published by Sergio Bonelli Editor.
In the nineties I drew four books. The two pages above are from my last one.
